Dieter's tunnel in the Ore Mountains was excavated at the same time as the construction of the Kamenička water reservoir in the years 1899-1904. It was used to drain bog water from the New and Old Ponds into the Chomutovka River during heavy rains and when the snow melts. The reason for the construction was to prevent humic water from entering the Kamenička water reservoir.
