A significant revival of the square is the fountain in its NW part. It was built in 1575 by Matyáš Zimmermann from Žitava. From the beginning, it was intended for drinking water, which was supplied by a wooden city water supply system. The fountain has nine sides and was originally without a column with a statue of the Virgin Mary. The statue was placed in the fountain only in the Baroque period.
