The ruins of the Melechov fortress

At the foot of the Melechov hill, north of the village of Kouty and four km southeast of Ledče nad Sázavou, there are the ruins of the Melechov fortress founded in the 14th century. and deserted after it was annexed to the Lipnice estate by Jan Trčka z Lípa between 1533 and 1540. The masonry of the tower building, standing on an elevated fortress surrounded by a moat, has been partially preserved to this day. Only traces of other buildings can be found. The whole is overgrown with forest.
