Znojmo - Kopal's monument
It is located on today's Comenius Square. The monument is named after Colonel Karl Kopal, who was born in nearby Ctidružice. He became famous as a military leader in the Austro-Sardinian War. After several victorious battles in 1848, he fell here near the village of Vicenza. He would be awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Maria Theresa by the Imperial Court and this monumental monument was erected to him in Znojmo.
