After the end of the Hussite wars, great famines and plague epidemics followed. Even south of Vyškov, the entire region was almost depopulated. As the territory was owned by the surrounding monasteries, the ecclesiastical authorities called the new settlers from their mother monasteries in Bamberg, Ausburg and Brixen.
