Historically, the oldest preserved mention of the village of Vrbice comes from 1384. The village is referred to as "in Wrbyczi". There are two theories about the origin of this name - according to the first, the name of the village arose from the appellative vrbice, which means small willow. The second theory explains the meaning of the name of the village as a village of the Vrbo people.
