Aphrodite (Greek Venus), the goddess of beauty, love and fertility, was born from sea foam in Cyprus. (The father is supposed to be the god Uranus, whose son Kronos cut off his natural). Her husband was the crippled blacksmith god Hephaestus, but far more often she enjoyed the war god Ares, with whom she eventually had most of her children.
Probably the most famous result of their whims was the conquest and sacking of Troy. Despite the conflicting consequences…
