Velká Štáhle – small-leaved linden

A massive 20m tall linden tree grows by the road in Velká Štáhla by the bank of the Moravice river. As the plaque near the tree says, it was planted sometime between 1620-1720 by Czech brothers who were fleeing religious oppression from their homeland. They stopped at the country's borders and planted various trees in memory. The land border between Moravia and Silesia passes just beyond Velka Štáhlí in Rýmařovská. Although Silesia was still...
