Fráni Šrámka Street in Písek
One of the most famous residents of Písek was poet, writer, playwright Fráňa Šrámek (1877-1952). The poet spent ten years of his life in Písek. He was born in Sobotka in 1877 and moved to Písek with his parents in 1885. The Šrámks lived in the U Koulí house near the former Putim Gate. Today, there is a commemorative plaque on the U Koulí house. See photo gallery.
