Uherskobrod Dominican Monastery with the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary was founded in 1262 by the Czech king Přemysl Otakar II. or Hungarian King Andrew (Hungarian András) II. Originally, it was a Gothic complex, which occupied a significantly larger area than the existing, Baroque one. Even today, however, this valuable complex belongs to the oldest and largest monuments of this part of Slovácko.
