A loyal companion of the Hvězda cinema is the Mír cinema next door, but it was there before. His ground floor building is decorated on the roof with a somewhat reverent sculpture of a bird and its dead mate. The cinema building is located on Náměstí Míru at the northern end of Smetanovy Sady, in the neighborhood of the busy Třída Maršál Malinovský and the quiet building of the Slovak Museum.
