TOP 5 of the most haunted Czech castles - where will you be genuinely scared?
There is no shortage of adventure in our region, but you have to be able to find it. If you have no idea where to go on the weekend, we will give you a few options that will especially please those who also like to be a little scared. Of course, you will be completely safe, but cold sweat or goosebumps will occasionally appear. In castles, where they are obviously haunted, there is no other way...
1. Kašperk Castle
A former favorite location of Emperor Charles IV. It is said that the pagan goddess Swiza wanders here, whom you must reverently greet or you will turn into a pile of stones. An altitude of less than nine hundred meters and forests all around, but that's true romance! Seven centuries of history, but also fifty thousand visitors a year. Kašperk is a really popular destination in the middle of Šumava.
2. Houska Castle
The local residence was founded by Přemysl Otakar II, apparently on a place where no castle should properly stand. Houska Castle is about twenty kilometers from Mladá Boleslav, and according to some legends, the way to hell is hidden in it. Even if you are not religious, you might not feel so comfortable here. At night, mysterious sounds can be heard here, and photos from the castle are often downright bad - but today's technology does not lie.
3. Křivoklát Castle
One of the most picturesque in the Czech Republic castles, no doubt about it. But on the threshold of the modern age, there was a prison in which more than one tortured prisoner released his soul. After all, at one time you also stayed here as a child Charles IV., a famous alchemist was also imprisoned here for a long time Edward Kelley. Křivoklát, where several well-known Czech films were filmed (Night at Karlštejn, Three Veterans, Angel of the Lord and others), they are said to regularly visit the souls of tortured prisoners...
4. Zvíkov Castle
