On July 21, 1944, several dozen B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24 Liberator bombers took off from the Stornara military base in South Italy. The planes of the American 15th Air Force - 15th USAAF had their goal - dropping bombs on a chemical plant, the Sudetenlandische Treibstoffwerke AG refinery in Záluží near Most. Due to the bad weather over the Alps, part of the bombers dropped their bombs on alternative targets...
