St. Jan pod Skalou and the Church of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, cave of St. Ivana and the former Benedictine monastery

First there was a cave in which the hermit Ivan lived. Later (in the 11th century) they built a cave chapel of St. John the Baptist. Approximately three hundred years later, a rectory was established on this site, and in the 16th century, an abbey.
 
The place therefore began to be sought after by pilgrims. This is also why they built a new church and a Benedictine monastery in the 17th century, which, like many others, was left by Emperor Josef II. Within…
