Shields – a church instead of a castle

The first mention of Šilperk, i.e. today's Štíty, comes from the end of the reign of Přemysl Otakar II, in 1278. It was a settlement located under a castle or fortress that belonged to Protiven from Zábřeh and Doubravice. However, the administration of the town was overseen by a certain Ješek from Šilperek, who made extra money by occasionally robbing travelers (let's add that the area on the border of three mountainous units, the Hanušovice Highlands,...
