The castle and village of Statenice are located 8 km northwest of Prague - Červené vrch. The village is accessible by the Prague Municipal Transport (PI D). The village is located in the valley of the Únětické stream. The first report about it dates from 1227, the fortress was first mentioned in 1466. It was built near the riverside yard belonging to the monastery of St. Jiří at Prague Castle, to which the greater part of Statenice belonged since the 13th century.
