The inconspicuous house by the bridge over the river Merta, which forms the border between Sobotín and Petrov nad Desnou, used to be a toll booth, i.e. a shelter from discomfort for the toll collector on the bridge. The house was built around 1870 at the expense of the owners of the Sobotín ironworks, the Klein brothers. The toll collector had to auction off his office, then he paid an annual rent of 100 guilders at the time. The tolls were mainly paid by the former,…
