Silesian Carrara
The vicinity of Supíkovice, like a number of places in the Rychlebské hory and Žulovské, has always been used for the extraction of all kinds of raw materials. The Italian author A. Valla in 1430 even mentions the mining of gold and silver at the foot of Velké Špičák (the oldest described cave in the Czech lands). In the 16th century, limestone deposits in the vicinity were used for burning lime. In 1579, 2 lime kilns were supposed to work here.
