The Semanín Reconciliation Cross is widely considered to be the oldest landmark of this East Bohemian municipality. Semanín near Česká Třebová, in which approximately 600 inhabitants live today, was first mentioned in writing in 1347, when the village was owned by the bishop of Litomyšl (however, it was apparently founded in the second half of the 13th century).
