The 68 m high baroque town hall is a distinctive landmark of the city, it was built between 1908 and 1911 according to the project of the Viennese architect Schmied. The construction was initiated by the mayor Josef Schmettan. The first meeting of the city council in the new seat was held on August 18, 1911. In 1908, the monarchy celebrated 60 years of the emperor's rule, so the new building was named the Emperor's Jubilee Town Hall...
