Pond Rosenberg
Reviews
Pond Rosenberg is located approximately 2 km north of Třeboň. With an area of 647 ha, Rožmberk is the largest pond not only in the South Bohemian Region and the Czech Republic, but also in the whole world. Rožmberk is intended primarily for fish breeding. Because the pond cannot be fertilized and fed due to Lužnica, it is fished once every two years. The Rožmberk Educational Trail leads around the pond. On the pond it is possible to observe the curvature of the globe, when looking across the pond (approx. 2,5 km) the elevation is 37,6 cm. The Rožmberská Bastion is an integral part of this pond monument. It is a one-story brick building with Renaissance graphite plaster still preserved. There is a small hydroelectric power plant with two Francis turbines with an output of 260 kW under the dam of the pond. Sport fishing is possible at Rožmberský rybníce. Accommodation in the vicinity of the Rožmberk pond is shown below.
