The well-known pond in Tábor, founded in 1492 to supply the town with drinking water, is the oldest valley dam in Bohemia. It was created by damming the Košín Stream, also known as Tismenice. Its 18 m high dam holds back 3 million cubic meters of water, which reaches a depth of up to 12,5 m in some places. The water reservoir, which originally served as a drinking water reservoir for Tábor, has an area of 50 ha.
