Rosice - a fountain with a statue of Živena
The local fountain originally stood in Nové Street in Brno. The fountain with the central cast-iron statue of Živěna (i.e. the harvest goddess Ceres holding a sheaf of grain in her arms and a sickle in her hand) was acquired for the township by Mayor Tichý as a gift from Jindřich Rahn, the owner of the iron ore mines. He bought it from the city of Brno in 1868. The statue stands in the middle of the fountain on a concrete plinth, from which water flows into the reservoir through a pipe. First time here...
