Ferdinand Porsche was born in this house in 1875, who became famous as an automobile designer and creator of the Volkswagen car. The residential building also served as the business premises of Ferdinand's father, Anton Porsche, who had a thriving tinsmith's workshop in the adjacent building


Ferdinand Porsche spent his childhood and youth here, he learned to be a tinsmith in the family business. Here he completed his first design steps and experiments with electricity, which led to the electrification of the entire building. Ferdinand Porsche lived in this house until 1893, when he moved to Vienna. Ferdinand Porsche returned here in 1903 to introduce his chosen one - Aloisia Kaesová - to his parents. The journey from Vienna to Wroclaw was completed by a young couple in a Lohner-Porsche Mixte' car with a gasoline-electric drive designed by Ferdinand Porsche.


The focus of the exhibition is the engineering and design spirit of Ferdinand Porsche: On this authentic


instead, it depicts a great personality in a historical context and shows the way to achieve individual mobility, completed by the design of the Volkswagen car. At the same time, the exhibition depicts crucial moments in the development of engineering and construction art, of which the life work of Ferdinand Porsche is a part.

Four showcases present historical milestones of design and engineering skills – from the first tools to inventions that will be used in the near future. Special attention is paid to the region of Bohemia and the rich tradition we have in the field of technical development.

The large table in the section dedicated to the Porsche family is filled with memories and historical milestones that tell the story of Ferdinand Porsche's life in Wrocławice, Vienna, Vienna's New Town, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg, Gmünd and Zell am See. At the same time, period photographs are the entry point to a multimedia presentation about the life and work of Ferdinand Porsche


Tours


The exhibition can be viewed individually during opening hours, interactively with the help of iPads rented on site. In the event of a group visit of more than 20 people, we recommend contacting us in advance.
