Rájec is the older part of the "twin city" of Rájec-Jestřebí, in which about 3,5 thousand inhabitants live today. It is first mentioned in a document of Olomouc bishop Jindřich Zdík from 1131 (Jestřebí until - exactly - 240 years later), but it is assumed that the village was founded a little earlier.
