 Frištát was first recorded as a city in the charter of Duke Casimir I from 1327. Fryštát lay at the crossroads of trade routes. At the end of the 15th century a municipality was established with three aldermen and a burgomaster. The oldest mention of the town hall is from 1504 in a document of Duke Casimir II.
