The Pardubice part of the middle Polabí used to be rich in a lot of sand overburden, which was blown by the wind from the sand deposits of the Elbe River during the dry and cold periods of the youngest ice age and the younger Quaternary, and it was when the wind strength fell below the transport speed that they accumulated.
