Vřesník water reservoir is located near the village of the same name about 1 km east of Želiv in the Českomoravská vrchovina - Želivská pahorkatina, in the valley of the Želivka river. It is the middle of a system of three dams (Trnávka, Vřesník, Sedlice). Vřesník Dam it is primarily intended for leveling and generating electricity, but it is also used for recreation, water sports and sport fishing. A path for pedestrians and cyclists leads from Želiv along the river Želivka to the reservoir. Around Vresnik there are good conditions for hiking, cycling and mushroom picking. Cottages and cottages by the Vřesník dam are shown below.
