Source Elbe
The source of our most important Czech river, the Elbe, originates in the Elbe meadow, adjacent to the state border with Poland.
In 1684, this spring was symbolically consecrated by the bishop of Hradec Králové, Jan z Talemberk, and thus the Labská louka became definitively Czech territory. In 1968, the source of the Elbe was modified and a metal plate with the coats of arms of the cities through which the Elbe flows was installed.
