The history of the U Medvídků house name and the brewing of beer goes back to the beginning of the 15th century, when it was named after the first owner, Jan Medvídků, who founded a brewery in 1446 that operated continuously until 1898. In these years, the owners of small breweries were no longer able to compete with the emerging industrial breweries.
