Prague and greenery, 5 of the most wonderful places in our metropolis
In the capital, there is not only noise and smog, but also nice parks and gardens. For example, Prague is proof that metropolises can bloom with lovely greenery and offer a pleasant environment for relaxation. Of course, this is not always and everywhere the case, but still - will you bet with us that we will find you five interesting places that invite you to relax literally in the middle of the color of summer forests?
1. Botanical Garden Prague
Prague 7 – Troy. Sure, just actually a short walk from the ZOO or the Troj Castle. In total, there are fifteen thousand different species of flora, of which roughly every third piece lives permanently in a greenhouse. There is Mediterranean greenery, beautiful sakura or maples and rhododendrons, the beauty of rainforests or vines all around. The establishment of this botanical garden dates back to 1969, but in five decades it has undergone interesting changes...
2. The garden of the monastery in Břevnov
Prague 6 and its most famous monastery garden bring relaxation in every season. The monastery in Břevnov is behind him more than a thousand years of existence, the so-called Markétská zahrada also remembers a lot. Sit here on the benches, walk through more than twelve hectares of planted areas. The garden received its final modifications - purely in the Baroque spirit - under the direction of the Dientzenhofers.
3. Chotka sets
Prague 1 and almost two centuries of history. This is basic information about the Chotka Gardens, which are adjacent to Queen Anne's Summer Palace. Less than four hectares of area, more than fifty different types of trees and plenty of space (not only) for summer relaxation. The former place for knightly festivities is now full of greenery that simply cannot be resisted...
4. Shooting Island
Another location from the very heart of Prague. The Vltava Island, which has about two and a half hectares and whose length reaches three quarters of a kilometer. It was first mentioned in sources in the twelfth century, and the very first All-Falcon Gathering took place here in 1882. A number of cultural events take place here, and you can also find an inn here. Strelecky Island was also called Little Venice, so there can be no doubt about the picturesqueness of the location!
5. Royal Nature Reserve – Stromovka
It was established in the thirteenth century as a hunting reserve. Today, there are a lot of trees and grassy areas in Bubenč, so there will be no shortage of greenery at all. The Royal Park, also sometimes called Stromovka, will also offer several playgrounds, the total area occupies almost one hundred hectares. The varied network of paths and trails intended for recreational use fulfills its purpose, unfortunately, the flood in 2002 damaged a number of trees.
