Monument to the victims of the fire in Měděnec.
A large house stood in Nádražní Street in Měděnec. Until 1948 it was a thread factory, until 1960 there was a Border Guard school, then a social care institution caring for physically and mentally disabled girls. On the night of November 1-2, 1984, a fire broke out in the building, killing 26 girls and injuring several others. The building was completely destroyed. This tragedy has never been fully explained…
