In 1923, a monument to the victims of the First World War was erected in an unconventional form and size on the Russian Hill in Lubenac. On a high stone plinth stood a larger-than-life-sized Blanica knight, and on the boards were symbols of war - a helmet and a victory cross. The monument on the bare hill could be seen from afar.
