Previously, this village was called Velké Petrovice to distinguish it from today's Petrovice (Little Petrovice). It, too, underwent certain changes during the aging process – Petrouicz (1352, 1405), Petrovice (1440), Petrowicz (1593, 1654), Petrowitz and Grosz-Petrowitz (1835) and Velké Petrovice (built 1854).
