At the Hague Peace Conference in 1907, an agreement was reached on the treatment of prisoners of war. This made it possible for prisoners of war to be assigned to work that is not related to the war. In World War I, 600 Italian soldiers were captured and they were placed in POW camps across half of Europe. There was a lack of labor in the hinterland, women, children and also prisoners had to replace them.…
