Monument to victims of the Iron Curtain - Cheb

The monument to the victims of the Iron Curtain was built by the city of Cheb and was unveiled on June 27, 2006. It represents torn shackles and is dedicated to people who died between 1948 and 1989 at the border while trying to emigrate from the former Czechoslovakia. The memorial bears the names of 82 people who were shot, killed in electric wires or otherwise killed on the western border between 1948 and 1981.…
