The most important monument and landmark of the South Moravian village of Šakvice is the Church of St. Barbory, standing in the upper part of the village. At first glance, the core of the building, which today seems rather modern, is Gothic, for example, a rib vault has been preserved in the presbytery, but some recently discovered relics are said to date back to the 12th century.
