Ostrava and its 5 biggest tourist attractions

Silesia is a very attractive region, there can be no dispute about that. The third largest Czech city - Ostrava - is literally blooming with culture. Three hundred thousand inhabitants, eight centuries of history, many museums and galleries, but also other attractive tourist destinations. Second biggest ZOO in the Republic, the historic Poruba district and the famous Stodolní street. But we're definitely not done yet, let's introduce some tips that you may not have heard much about - but they're here and waiting to be visited!

The Černá louka exhibition center in Ostrava hosts an interesting museum. Did you know that you can go around the world in just one afternoon? Miniatures of the world's greatest attractions that everyone wants to see - from the Leaning Tower of Pisa to the Eiffel Tower or Big Ben in London, of course, there are also seven wonders of the world (we are talking about the ancient ones). There are a total of 34 superbly crafted miniatures, the models are made in 1:25 scale. And we must not forget the purely Czech locations, such as the Old Town Hall.

The second largest ZOO in our country, right after Chomutov. Almost four thousand different animals and a hundred hectares of land, in other words – clear entertainment for the whole family on any weekend afternoon. The public visited Ostrava Zoo for the first time at the beginning of the sixties of the last century. And what interesting animals are waiting here? Among other things, it is a panda, a jaguar or an island lynx. And further? Sacred Hulman, Syrian bear, Ceylon leopard and many others. Part of the Ostrava ZOO is an extensive botanical park, where you can even find beeches that are half a century old.

A sacred gem in the middle of Moravian Ostrava, which was built at the end of the nineteenth century (between 1883 and 1889, Neo-Renaissance style). The three-aisled cathedral, the length of which reaches almost seventy meters. It is one of the largest church buildings of its kind in our country, it can accommodate up to four thousand visitors. A few years ago, a major reconstruction of the cathedral took place, everything here literally shines with newness - except for Sundays, Mondays and public holidays, it is open for tourists every day!

4. DinoPark Ostrava

Ideal for the whole family, especially the little ones who are totally into the world of dinosaurs. Dozens of robotic models of prehistoric monsters that seem to have fallen out of Burian's drawings. A twelve-meter volcano from the Mesozoic period, but also a lot of children's attractions where you can run around for hours. It would certainly be a shame to lose a 3D cinema, wouldn't it?

Seventy-three meters high, in operation all year round, you can easily reach the top by elevator. The observation tower of the New Town Hall in Ostrava offers a beautiful view not only of the entire city, but when you can see clearly, you will also see a part of Poland or the Beskydy.

Ostrava, that just sounds good! Therefore, do not hesitate to go to this beautiful city on the weekend with the whole family, on which the sun definitely does not set...
