Opava – Opava (reborn)

Opava as a town appears in documents at the beginning of the 13th century, but before that there was probably a settlement near the ford over the Opava river. The common name of the river, which originates in Hrubé Jeseník (more precisely, flows into Vrbno pod Pradědem from three sources), and the town refer to an older settlement. The word base AVA refers to the Celts, it is also evident in the German name Troppau (it refers to the ford).…
