Nový Malín – monument to the tragedy of Český Malín

The village, rather the small town of Frankštát (Frakstadt) is apparently older than the nearby Šumperk. It was probably created around the middle of the 13th century, perhaps even earlier in connection with prospecting activities in the nearby mountains, which we call Hraběšická hornatina.
The village kept its original name until 1947, when it was renamed Nový Malín. The name was chosen in memory of the village of Český Malín in Volhynia, Ukraine. After…
