In the old town
The place where the original settlement of Žďár stood. It is located by the old Vápenná cesta, a remnant of which is the crossing through Klafar, on the right (Czech) bank of the Sázava river. As early as around 1100, a market settlement stood near today's castle grounds on the provincial trade route at the ford over the Sázava River, which formed the border. When Mr. Boček from Obřany founded a Cistercian monastery in 1252, the settlement moved to the area...
