Moravské Budějovice - meat shops

The original meat shops stood on today's Náměstí Míru. The first written mention of them dates back to 1522. They served here until 1837, when the city abolished the shops under pressure from citizens who were bothered by the strong smell and slow traffic. In their place, in 1839, a purpose-built building in the shape of a horseshoe with 12 new shops was built on Purcnerova Street.
