Originally, it was the location of vineyards, which often turned into luxurious villas or even castles. An example is the baroque-rococo mansion from 1773 of the inspector of the archbishop's estates, Hans Paul Hippman. It is after him that the villa district of Dejvic is called Hanspaulka.
