The Lučina River originates on the northern slope of the Prašivá peak (843 m above sea level) and at an altitude of 600 meters. The river flows in a northerly direction, at the southern edge of Havířov the river flows in a northwesterly direction, and at the western edge of the city it turns west towards Ostrava.
