Kutná Hora - Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary

 
The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is the oldest Gothic cathedral in Central Europe. It was built in the years 1290 - 1320 as a convent church of the Sedlec Cistercian Abbey, modeled after the French cathedral.
Sedlec (today's part of Kutná Hora) became the first Cistercian abbey in Bohemia in 1142. It was founded during the reign of Vladislav II. at the instigation of Olomouc bishop Jindřich Zdík.
