A brief description on the website of the Ministry of Defense states that the main dominant feature of the monument is a female figure wearing a laurel wreath and shielding her forehead, apparently looking like a victorious man from the Great War. Let's face it straight away that the woman looks like a jovial hag at first glance, and perhaps a slightly unfortunate combination of circumstances diminishes the seriousness of the sculpture in the fact that the woman in question looks fondly at the church of St. Giles,…
