The lion statue found in the city park near Smetana Street is the work of the Dresden sculptor Klement Grundig. It was unveiled on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Francis I and as a monument to the Austro-Prussian War of 1866. The statue represents a Czech lion grasping a Prussian eagle. There used to be plaques on the pedestal with the names of the victims of the battles, but they were stolen.
