The royal dowry town of Chrudim
At the turn of the 10th and 11th centuries, the Přemysl fortress stood on the site of today's town, where Prince Břetislav I died during a military campaign in 1055. Chrudim as such did not become a city until 1263 thanks to Přemysl Otakar II. The title of royal dowry town can to be proud of since 1307, when Rudolf Habsburg dedicated it to his wife Eliška Rejčka.
