Quarries near Hroznětín

Although there are three submerged quarries here, you can't really choose between them. Only one of them is suitable for swimming, and that is the largest one. Originally, basalt, uranium ore and kaolin and bentonite were mined here. The quarry here is much slower than elsewhere and you can even find a sandy beach here. The quarry is located closest to the village of Velký rybník. However, if you decide to visit the quarry, be careful, as the depth here reaches several tens of meters and the underground water currents can be treacherous.

A flooded kaolin quarry, located near Karlovy Vary, is really a big attraction for many people. The Jimlíkova quarry is popular not only for its proximity to the metropolis, but also for its beautifully clear water and sandy bottom with original view of the sand dunes.
