It is located in the Moravian Karst on a slight elevation of the wooded limestone ridge of Chobot between Suchy and Pustý žleb, south of the Macochy abyss. It was opened experimentally at the instigation of Professor Karel Absolon in 1940. The exploratory shaft led to a free cavity at a depth of 17 m with a unique stalactite decoration in the form of rosette-like growths similar to coral tufts, after which the sinkhole got its name.
